Dr Eugene Tay graduated from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College of the University of London in 1997. He is one of few surgeons to have received all basic, advanced and sub-specialty/fellowship training at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Cataract surgery takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete, depending on the severity of the condition. You should also plan to spend up to 30 minutes following the surgery to recover from the effects of the sedative.
No, cataracts cannot return after surgery because the natural lens is replaced with an artificial lens that does not develop cataracts.
